Five Things Must See in Ngardmau State

Bai Urdmau (Meeting House for Ngara Urdmau Chiefs Only)

It is located on top of Ngerurang channel and legends said that it was a traditional meeting house used only for the high chiefs of Urdmau. Today, the area is still the same but the house is no longer standing.

Ikeam el Diong (Well)

This is a well located at Urdmau, Ngardmau. According to oral legends it was once used by the people of Ngardmau during the great drought in Palau. Today, the well is still in its original form.

Olketokel ra Udoud el Bad (Stone Table for displaying Palauan Money)

Olketokel ra Udoud el Bad was used by chiefs of Ngardmau for displaying their Palauan money. It is carved like a table and situated next to a stone platform at the Bai ra Oldiang in Ngerutoi hamlet. Next to the Olketokel el Bad in the northwest a stone face is lying on the ground. The story of this Stone Table is all the men from the first house of Ngerutoi would gather and choose one amongst them who should be the next ruling chief. This was accomplished when each of them placed his money on the table. Then the person who had most of the larger money pieces had the right to claim the chieftainship.

Chedub ra Ielech

A god named Chedub ra Ielech distributed and arranged the titles. This god was on a stone platform at a mangrove channel in Urdmau that was called Ngerurang. Today, the stone platform with the head of Chedub ra Ielech with his two faces made of stone is still at the same channel of Ngerurang.

Bauxite Mining Operation

During the Japanese administration in Palau, Ngardmau State was used for mining Bauxite. The bauxite terraces and some ruins equipments that were used for transporting bauxite can still be seen today.
